Diplodocus vs Megalodon: longer by how much?
A Diplodocus measures 25 m (82 ft) end to end, and a megalodon measures 16 m (52.5 ft) end to end. A megalodon would have to grow by 56% to match a Diplodocus, which is 1.56 times its length. Put the other way round, a megalodon covers 64% of a Diplodocus on the axis both are judged on. A Diplodocus and a megalodon are both written in tens of metres, and the 56% between them is the whole of the difference.

Why this one is hard to judge by eye
A Diplodocus sits in the range with no handy yardstick: too big to hold against anything you have carried, too small to need a horizon, so it and a megalodon end up filed under the same vague heading of very large.
What each figure covers
Diplodocus. Diplodocus is quoted nose to tail tip, and the tail is close to half of it. Vertebra counts differ between specimens, so published lengths move by several metres.
Megalodon. The 16 m is a mid-range estimate. Megalodon is known almost entirely from teeth, and body length is reconstructed from tooth size, which is why published figures run from about 15 m to over 20 m.
A Diplodocus and a megalodon are both quoted as a length, which is what makes the ratio above a like-for-like figure.
What else is about that size?
Measured the same way, Diplodocus at 25 m sits within a tenth of Tennis Court at 23.8 m and Blue Whale at 27 m. Megalodon at 16 m has Sperm Whale at 16 m and Spinosaurus at 14.5 m for company, within a tenth. Swapping any of those in for a Diplodocus would move its ratio to a megalodon by less than 10%.
