Why any of this needs writing down
Ask how tall a giraffe is and you will get answers between five metres and nearly six, all of them given confidently and most of them correct. The spread is not carelessness. It is the gap between three different things people mean by height, plus the difference between an average animal and a record one, plus the fact that nobody agrees whether the horns count.
That pattern repeats everywhere. A tower has one height to the roof and another to the tip of a spire. A shark is measured to the tail tip and a whale to the notch between the flukes. A country has no single width at all. Once you start putting two sizes next to each other, these conventions stop being pedantry and start being the whole answer.
So these guides do two things. They set out how the measurements in this game are taken, object by object and axis by axis, and they explain why human intuition about size collapses so reliably past a certain scale. Both matter, because the game is unplayable without the first and no fun without the second.
