Take 3 Pikachus stacked up and you reach 1.2 m (3.94 ft), still 30 cm (11.8 in) short of Gengar; one more would overshoot by 10 cm (3.94 in). Why this one is hard to judge by eye
Pikachu has never been measured, only stated: the figure comes from its source and moves when the source is redrawn, while Gengar can be checked with a tape, so this pair sets a decision against a measurement. Gengar is drawn about 4.25 times as wide as Pikachu as well as 3.75 times its height, so the area it takes in the frame grows faster than the figure anyone quotes. Both shapes fit in a single glance here, which ought to make 3.75 to one obvious between Gengar and Pikachu, and it is not: at this size the eye compares whole outlines while the figures above compare one axis.
What each figure covers
Gengar. Gengar is quoted at its official entry height. It is one of the cases where a creature that reads as small on screen is listed taller than almost anyone expects.
Pikachu. Pikachu is quoted at its official entry height, unchanged since 1996. Forty centimetres is smaller than almost every drawing of it suggests.
Gengar and Pikachu are both quoted as a height, which is what makes the ratio above a like-for-like figure.
What else is about that size?
Measured the same way, Gengar at 1.5 m sits within a tenth of Crash Bandicoot at 1.5 m, Kangaroo at 1.5 m and Blastoise at 1.6 m. Pikachu at 40 cm has Woody at 40 cm, A3 Paper at 42 cm and Emperor Zurg at 38 cm for company, within a tenth. Swapping any of those in for Gengar would move its ratio to Pikachu by less than 10%.
