How much taller is Yoda than a chicken?

Yoda measures 66 cm (26 in) from the ground up, and a chicken measures 35 cm (13.8 in) from the ground up. A chicken would have to grow by 89% to match Yoda, which is 1.89 times its height. Put the other way round, a chicken covers 53% of Yoda on the axis both are judged on. Yoda and a chicken are both written in tens of centimetres, and the 89% between them is the whole of the difference.

Both figures, Yoda and Chicken, come from the Size It Up measurement set, one real-world size and one measured axis per object, last checked in September 2026; outline provenance is listed on the sources page.

Why this one is hard to judge by eye

Yoda has never been measured, only stated: the figure comes from its source and moves when the source is redrawn, while a chicken can be checked with a tape, so this pair sets a decision against a measurement. Both shapes fit in a single glance here, which is exactly why the 89% between Yoda and a chicken slips past: at this size the eye compares whole outlines, and the figures above compare one axis.

What each figure covers

Yoda. The height is the in-universe figure for the character. The puppet built for filming was made to that scale, which is rare enough to be worth noting.

Chicken. Hens are measured standing, to the top of the head rather than the comb. Breed changes this figure far more than age does.

Yoda and a chicken are both quoted as a height, which is what makes the ratio above a like-for-like figure.

What else is about that size?

Measured the same way, Yoda at 66 cm sits within a tenth of Tennis Racket at 68.5 cm, Bulbasaur at 70 cm and Charmander at 60 cm. Chicken at 35 cm has Little Penguin at 33 cm and Emperor Zurg at 38 cm for company, within a tenth. Swapping any of those in for Yoda would move its ratio to a chicken by less than 10%.
